Introduction to Apocalypse

Welcome to Apocalypse! Apocalypse is a browser-based MMORPG, where everyone plays in the same world, a world filled with magic, technology, and few rules. Drawing upon the many concepts that have made RPGs exciting throughout the ages, Apocalypse tries to recreate the feel of a tradition pencil-and-paper RPG through the decisions and choices your character has to make.

There are several free MMOG (massive multiplayer online games) out there, but Apocalypse is the only one of its kind that gives full access to the entire game to the free player. Some other free MMOGs have special areas or content that is only accessible to the premium subscriber, while others even go so far as to restrict the development of your character or how far they can advance in levels or skills! Not so with Apocalypse -- we believe it takes all the fun out of the game when someone is better than you just because they spent money and you are playing for free. Our free players can become just as strong, fast, and deadly as our premium subscribers, and every item, quest, skill, and zone is fully accessible.

Recommended: Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Internet Explorer (1024x768 resolution or higher)
Required: No plug-ins or downloads required to play*. Only a web browser with javascript enabled is required - that's it. Unless you've turned javascript off for some reason, you can probably play right now.
Apocalypse is currently in beta testing. This means that everything is subject to change at any time. Level 1 characters are deleted after 45 days of inactivity.
* You may be offered a music plug-in during combat if you wish to hear combat music.

Apocalypse tries to be a combination of all the elements of pencil-and-paper, tabletop RPGs that made them so fun to play. This means that you have stats, equipment, magic, skills, technology, special abilities, get to fight monsters, wizards, dragons, and "level up" (advancing your character), but it also means there is a focus on creating a consistent, enjoyable game "world" to immerse yourself in. Built as a MMORPG (massively multiplayer online RPG), all players exist simultaneously in one all-encompassing world, permitting a greater level of player interaction and cooperation than is possible by normal RPGs, or indeed even by pencil-and-paper RPGs. Not only can you interact with and socialize with your fellow players in the world, but you can even join them in combat against common foes or in shared quests (coming soon).
