Character Advancement
| Gaining Experience and Leveling Up |
There are four main ways you can gain experience in Apocalypse:
- Completing scenarios and quests
- Being victorious in combat
- Using skills
- Making correct alignment choices
Opportunities for scenarios and quests will present themselves as you move around,
depending on the area you are in and what level you are. You can get in combat
spontaneously if you are attacked by something (especially out in the wilderness),
or as the result of a scenario. Certain choices in scenarios are only available
if you have a particular skill, and the successful use of a skill nets you additional
experience. Finally, if you take an action in a scenario that is consistent with
the alignment of the character you are playing, you may receive bonus experience.
If you make a choice that is contrary to your alignment, you may find that your
alignment gradually shifts towards the choices you tend to make!
If you get seriously injured, you can choose the action "Rest for a bit" to regain
health more quickly. If you die, after a moment you will be resurrected back to
the starting town, but you will only have 1 life point so you will have to rest
before you can venture out again.
