Reference: Classes
All players begin the game as a level 1 Vagabond, which basically means
that you haven't yet chosen a class. You may select a class by getting
training from a class trainer in Pearl Junction beginning at level 10.
If you do not choose a class by level 20, you will become a Scholar.
The true warrior, a fighter is the master of arms and combat, trained
in both hand-to-hand methods and the heaviest weapon system. Fighters
are killing machines, not just from their weapons but also from the fact
that they have no reservations about cybernetic and bionic implants, a
technology which the "magical" professions tend to shun due to its
interference with magical ability. Difficulty: Easy
Monks are at one with themselves and with nature. They can survive in the harshest wilderness
with almost no equipment, and they have an affinity for nature and animals
that allow them to train and domesticate pets and familiars. They also have
extensive training in martial arts. Difficulty: Easy
Sorcerors are an elite group trained in the use of rune language, which can be used to
alter the fabric of reality by manipulating probabilities. The sorcerer
casts his spells through a combination of hand movements and a verbal
description in rune language of the possibility he is trying to evoke.
All living things contain the psychic energy (Psyche) necessary to
cast these spells, but only the sorcerer has a thorough enough understanding
of rune language to cast the most complex spells. Difficulty: Normal
When the human brain was fully mapped, the medical profession discovered
amazing abilities hidden inside human DNA that had been dormant for
centuries, if not longer. Through genetic engineering, physicians are able
to unlock these abilities in themselves and others.
These innate abilities were discovered to operate on the same principles
as rune language, but one advantage of these intrinsic ancient human
abilities over verbal rune language is that the wielder does not
have to speak -- he can engage his power through sheer force of will. Difficulty: Normal
An engineer has dedicated his life to the study of technology, from
the simplest gadget to the most complex set of robotic power armor.
Engineers can not only repair and modify weapons, armor, and vehicles,
but they can also create entirely new items using raw components. Difficulty: Normal
The scholar has dedicated his life to the pursuit of knowledge and learning.
Although not necessarily the best under fire, the scholar's dedication
to study allows him the widest variety of options as he tries to navigate
and survive the world of Apocalypse. Difficulty: Hard
There are no class trainers for the Scholar class. If you wish to become a Scholar,
level up to level 20 without getting any class training, and you will automatically
become a member of the Scholar class. If you do not wish to be a Scholar, you must
get training in one of the other classes before level 20, because becoming a Scholar
is permanent. Class trainers can be found in the town of Pearl Junction among other places.
